Romans 12:6-8
6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Well... er uhmmhummph... ya seee mah brother...erummmmph (deacon cough)...

the problem is that a lot of folks don't KNOW what their gift is/are!!! I'm finding that out. So... what happens is... a lot of times folks engage in activities that aren't in thier "lane" and they are dysfunctional and get disgruntled because they are out of place. I would start with asking "Do you know your gifts" (Yes everybody has one, most at least two), then my next question if the answer is "no" is why not??!!
 I Cor 12:1 "Now concerning spiritual gifts bretheren, I would not have you ignorant (unlearned, uninformed).

You make a great point most people do not know their spiritual giifts.
