When Your Break a String...
« on: January 28, 2008, 07:36:50 PM »
...do you replace the whole set or just than one string?  If this were to happen with a brand new set of strings, I'll replace just the one; but what do you do with a slightly older set?

I seriously never break strings (I've broken one on stage, and one on my acoustic in about 15 years of playing--guess I have a light touch).

However, if it's during a gig, church, etc., I replace the one, then the whole set later.

I'm really weird about stuff like that.

OCD...  ;)

I'll usually replace the one right then and then replace the whole set later also. I'm kinda OCD too. I need to feel like the strings came together for some reason! LOL!!! :-\

In 28 years of playing I've broken a string while playing (a gig) maybe 3 or 4 times and only once in church.
When that's happened I'd change the one string then and change the rest afterwards.

I normally change my strings every few weeks...maybe a month and a half...on my main 3 guitars just to be safe.  :)

When you break a string, I think that more than enough reason to buy a new guitar. 8)

i change the whole set as soon as possible. just my preference. i'm a little ocd a s well, and it drives me nuts to have one new string with 5 older ones.
