You can send a recording to the US copyright office. If you have a collection of songs you can place all on one cd and have all material protected.

It's funny that I haven't run into anyone that likes to fill out the copyright forms.  You can download them and if you have Adobe Acrobat, you can type in the info, save it and print out the copy to submit.

I hate filling those joints out....
I don't get headaches while making music, but when it comes to that part my head be thumping....
CJ as others have said you can submit all your work on one CD...
Which is the best way to go cause you don't have to pay for each individual track....
So for like $30 or so you can copywrite your whole album....
I'm destined for greatness!!!

First of all, IANAL.

You don't necessarily need to register your works to obtain copyright. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright#Obtaining_and_enforcing_copyright
Quote
In all countries where the Berne Convention standards apply, copyright is automatic, and need not be obtained through official registration with any government office. Once an idea has been reduced to tangible form, for example by securing it in a fixed medium (such as a drawing, sheet music, photograph, a videotape, or a computer file), the copyright holder is entitled to enforce his or her exclusive rights. However, while registration isn't needed to exercise copyright, in jurisdictions where the laws provide for registration, it serves as prima facie evidence of a valid copyright and enables the copyright holder to seek statutory damages and attorney's fees. (In the USA, registering after an infringement only enables one to receive actual damages and lost profits.)

Also, note difference between copyrighting
1. the composition (ie, the sheet music), and
2. your performance (ie you playing the sheet music above)
They are separate things and serve different purposes.
