Zoro - drum solo
« on: February 24, 2008, 08:43:50 PM »
Have y'all heard of Zoro? He's been drumming for Jesus for many years now.
I wanted to share this video I just found of him with y'all.

I got the chance to meet Zoro a few months ago at a clinic that he did at my gradmothers church. He seems to be a real cool, and down to earth cat. His playing doesnt seem to be anything spectacular but he's most definetly solid.

To me, he IS spectacular. The artists that he's played with definitely back that up! He didn't shock me with this solo, but it was tasteful. It's extremely difficult to keep it that locked down. Anyway, thanks for the post.

I HAPPEN TO LIKE HIM A LOT.  I THINK HIS RYTHYM AND TIMING ARE OFF THE HOOK.  I'M A LATIN, SALSA BEAT LADY AND HE DOES IT WELL!! ;D

That's the thing...his timing and pocket are tight! And I happen to dig drummers who say a whole lot with just a few pieces and that's where he shines, imho.

I could see a pattern in the structure and way he moved from fill to fill during the solo, he was definitely speaking music.

I'm glad I'm starting to pick up on the language of music. Slowly but surely.
