« on: March 04, 2008, 04:38:56 AM »
 ?/?
Can anyone tell me wich one would be better? I need to work with samples and sequencer ,but I don't know what's the best for that : Triton Extreme or Motif... Maybe there is one of you who played both of them....

It would solely depend of your preference in a variety of factors...

1. The sounds you're looking for. (synth heavy, contemporary and so forth)
2. Functionality & Layout
3. Live gig or Studio purposes

I have the Motif ES and you'll need some RAM(DIMM) to play with sampling. I dunno if the Extreme comes with enough memory to sample since memory is progessively getting cheaper and the extreme is more recent than the ES

But both systems are sequencers/workstations where the sky is the limit...  it's all up to you :)

I have a question?  I was told that it was very complicating playin a Motif and it made me nervous to get on one at a church considering the musician there couldnt play it because of something to do with switching up sumthin?

nahh dude

the motif is no harder to play

it may be a little harder to program
and to do tracks

but as far as calling up a patch to play there is nothing to it

To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word

oh almost forgot

the yamaha is my choice because of the realism of the pianos

nobody even comes close to yamahas piano realism

wait roland comes close

but korg has lousy pianos especially the korg extremme

I owned two extremes and I sent them both packing

they were fun to play and switch sounds I really like the way you can navigate on the extreme

but that is about it
unles you have money for the oaysis

but if not go yamaha you cant go wrong with yamaha

and I am a roland man talking

nut my next board will be the motif xs

for sure

i have owned boards since 1985

my first board was the bit one the first digital board in the everymans price range

I then bought a poly 800 brain by korg

I next picked up a dx7 and a super jupiter brain

then I stopped playing until 1997 at which time I bought a yamaha sy85
a great board simple to use and pretty decent sounds

even could play samples

my next board was a p80 which was just for playing live greatest realistic piano I ever played

i later bought a s90 which couldnt compare feel wise to the p80

next I purchased a first generation fantom

I fully equipped it with several expansion boards

I then bought a triton extreme 88
sent it back

i bought the little one sent that back too

I finally settled on a roland fantom x8

so now I own two fantoms

but its cool the little one is the one I gig with because of its light weight
only weighs 30 pounds

To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word

i would say the motif is the best, sequencing on the tritons is easier, but once u get the hang of it it easy no matter what board u get. i have a motif and for me, since im the only that plays at my church, i can do more stuff live and on the fly with the motif than i can the triton or the roland. the results i get are great. now if u are looking for straight piano sounds, i would go with the roland for pianos, then motif, then korg, if you are looking for tight layered sounds such as pianostrings, pianobasspad, go with triton, if you are looking for the best of the both worlds go with the motif. i have the es so i can program four sounds to be played and controlled at the same time, the new motif XS you can have 8 different sounds. the new Fantom G in my opinion is just roland's attempt at trying to get like the motif XS

I have a Yamaha Motif XS but it would really depend on what Motif you are talking about. Like it was said earlier the Extreme has some whack pianos compared to the realisticness(is that a word?) of the pianos on the Motif
