Here's the song you're talking about ...
It's called, "He looked beyond my fault", by Dottie Rambo.
And it's sung to the tune of, "O'Danny Boy", otherwise known as "Londonderry Aire" ...

He Looked Beyond My Fault
(written by Dottie Rambo)

Verse
Amazing grace shall always be my song of praise,
for it was grace that brought my liberty;
I do not know just why He came to love me so,
He looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

Chorus
I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary,
to view the cross where Jesus died for me,
how marvelous the grace that caught my falling soul;
He looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

(If you learn to play or can play "O'Danny Boy", then you sing these lyrics to that tune.
It's a powerful and beautiful picture of God's love towards us, His people who desperately need Him!)

If you go to YouTube and punch in, "He looked beyond my faults", several choices will pop up.  You can then listen to the song being sung, and/or hear the instrumental piano version.
