...yeah, there was a lil' excerpt on M.D. a few issues back that had a taste of this article if not the whole thing.

...I remember Michael rippin' it with Prince and NPG when the first Batman movie came out.  I remember me saying, "that big guy with the huge hat is destroying the drums." lol.  Years later...............I find out and read up on who it is......Mr. Michael "Funkster" Bland.

Alot of info in that article. Versatility as a musician, taking ownership of a gig, doing a history check, listening to a variety of music....He was getting other gigs while he's on a gig! That's why you always have to be on your stuff! You never know who's watching/listening. Great article.
