melody lines

What do you  look for, when wanting to use scales and licks between melody line.How do create things betweem melody lines.If this has already been posted,please tell me where to find it.BE BLESSED

Im working on this but I have the concept down. You need to know the melody well. Then if your smart you can mix in alto and tenor lines. Then you have randomness or just plain creativity in what you hear as you play the melody.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.
