Greetings LGM Family,
I just joined this site this week, and am simply overwhelmed with joy to see the wealth of information sharing, encouragement, & networking going on with Gospel Musicians.
I have been a musician (piano/organ) at my church for 18 years (started at 10yrs old, & they endured me). Music has never been my real passion (I'm a minister, & good preaching is what I've always loved). However, I know God gifted me to play so I could be a blessing to our church who had no pianist/organist. So, I've played mainly out of a since of obligation to God for this great gift, but never with the passion His ministry deserves.
For the past couple of years, I've notice my interest in music dwindle down to almost nothing. To keep it simple & to the point, I just didn't have any desire for playing anymore. Of course my skills weren't increasing as a result, & God wasn't being glorified through my gift.
I had a recent experience that challenged my music ability (I know it was a God ordered experience). Publicly, it didn't phase me, but privately I felt ashamed by my lack of improvement in music over the years. Well, I asked God to give me some help with my playing from someone who is serious about Him #1, and their music second. Well, He did just that. Someone started me on my quest for knowledge which led me to this site. I must say, just in the couple of days I've been able to visit the site, I have been simply re-energized with passion and hope.
Thank you all for your willingness to share information. This is a true blessing for me, & I pray that God will bless you tremendously, as you remain useful in His hands.
I just had to share this.
