It won't necessarily appeal to folks who are exposed to that kind of music.  :-\

Don't be difficult man. :)

I think the biggest problem is that most of the songs on this CD would be extremely difficult or even impossible to perform in most black churches. To play most of his songs would require a full band with horns, flutes, melodic percussion( i think i heard a marimba on I made it through), guitars, drum machines, and other seldom heard instruments in Gospel music. I mean most of us only have a organ or a piano/keyboard in our church, and small choirs, so songs like Bless the Lord are out of the question.

Tye Tribbett takes Psalms 150 literally!!!!

CHevonne, I'm late too. I think this cd is awesome. I love it! And the live concert was off the chain.

I agree with the previous poster, there are a lot of instruments.

Yeah i totally agree with this. My church tried to do Bless The Lord...gave up after 5 mins of hearing the song. It is simply too hard to do without a full band. We only have a bassist and 2 keyboards. The guitar parts i cannot do on the keyboard...totally impossible.

Apart from this, his songs are off the chain. The musicianship and level of virtuosity displayed on the DVD is awesome.

My father has the problem that he listen to every cd he buy and discards as "not so good" if it doesn't have songs his choir can do.  The cd is a great listen.  It blesses my soul.  And the good in the hood video is downright hilarious.

I think a lot of choir directors/ P&W leaders have to remember that a lot of these songs on CDs were not meant for choirs to start singing them in church. In fact many of those songs are not practical as P&W songs...they are very complex and hard enough for the musicians to follow, talk less of the congregation.

Honestly, when my P&W leader brought us Tye's Son of Man, immediately i heard the first 2 minutes of the song i KNEW there was no way we cold play it. It required too many instruments, the timing had to be perfect...not to talk of the fact that my skill level is not yet up to Tye's. :)

Well that's the thing... The songs are SO GOOD, that we can only DREAM of doing them!!!! When a lot of us hear a good song, we want to learn it(or at least gather chords or ideas from the song), but it's difficult when you got so many instruments playing at the same time... so I can do is just sit back and imagine myself playing in his band!!!
