Ooh! To go along with that one: one time we were doing a tune in G, and for some reason, my brain was stuck on E, so I was playing these E minor pentatonic fills and stuff--no one noticed. I kept thinking it sounded different, but didn't figure it out until halfway through the song (this, of course was years ago... :wink: ).
Anyways, you can try that stuff, too--like Em licks in G, or F#m licks in A--you may want to alter your landing notes a bit, though. You know, for the flow.
