The Bass Arrived today... My initial reaction, was wow, I got this bass for 160 bucks.  I shot a short video, but I'm feeling very sick today, so my thoughts have been fleeting, and my playing is rough to say the least.

Anyhow I will edit and post the video later.

My thoughts:

I would play the bass as is at church.

The string spacing is not that big an issue, its actually feels very similar to my TRB1005.
I'm getting a bit of fret clanking from a couple of the strings. (nothing a setup couldn't fix)
No discernable buzz from the pickups.
The neck is very playable.
I like the tone I get without having to tweak my amp.

No worries. We are here to help one another. :)

I keep looking at that fretless Jazz 5.  Then again, I am also thinking about changing tuners and bridge on my current Jazz 5.

Torch, I want to say how much your video blessed me.  You said what so many guys out there really need to hear about gear.

I am already on the SX bandwagon, but your bass is making me want to go back for another one. :)  Please keep us updated as you install the Audere pre-amp.

Preciate the video, Torch7.  SX is sounding good and your philosophy is right on.

Ijust put a BadAss II bridge on mind and my tech replaced the nut with a true bone nut that gives me 18mm spacing and plays great.I'm not going to change the pickups as of yet because they sound pretty good along with the Seymour Duncan Paranormal outboard preamp/DI box that I've been using

Dhagler, I just placed an order for a:

I bought myself a birthday present, even though I know it will probably end up in my daughter's (aka The most beautiful bass player alive - according to her father) hands quite often, since the neck on her hand me down from Dad -- Ibanez neck is warped beyond legal limits, with no accessible truss rod.

Ahem, okay back from my rant.  I am excited, you would think I just ordered a custom pavel, or callowhill...LOL!

Dropping an Audere in Sounds awfully good to me, too!

How do I get one?

Can you imagine how it is going to sound after he gets a setup, changes strings, and installs the Audere?

I've owned two.

They are good, but the electronics are pretty much garbage.  The pickups might be fine with a new preamp, but the stock preamp is a piece of trash.

That bass sounded pretty decent. You are making me consider getting one and modding it myself. Slap in a Audere and some Duncan's, powerhouse then.
Keep God first and he'll do the rest!!!
