LOL, same here.  It always seems to be a gametime decision, even if we rehearsed something on Friday.

ssabass, how did the concert go?

Nice to know that my church's music ministry isn't the only one that does this!  :D

It's bad when they're taking minutes to figure out what they wanna do, meanwhile the choir is up and just standing there like "ummm... ooookay".  And no, that stalling-for-time-while-we-figure-it-out-praise-clap ain't foolin' ANYBODY.  LOL!!!

neither is the "i gotta walk the aisle and hype the people up and give a mini-testimony because they handed me the mic but i still dont know which of the 10 songs that i lead the choir is getting ready to sing" technique.

Last Sunday I got the songs when I got to church.  This coming Sunday I have a list:

1. God Is My Everything (I have the song, pretty much figured it out, thanks to everyone who posted on the thread!)
2. Right Place (I have sheet music but have never heard it)
3. What God Has For Me It Is For Me (I don't have the song, does anyone know the artist and maybe I can download it)

neither is the "i gotta walk the aisle and hype the people up and give a mini-testimony because they handed me the mic but i still dont know which of the 10 songs that i lead the choir is getting ready to sing" technique.

neither is the "The choir director picks a song that hasn't been played in 4 months and doesn't remember the name of the song and can only you the artist last name, then the lead singer doesn't remember the verse, tells the organist, you have to tell me the words when I get to the part, but the first time the musicians hit the verse after the choir directors says "1st verse" and the lead singer takes it BACK to the TOP of the song!!!!"

Real talk, this happened this past Monday at a Jubilation service.

so im sure you experienced the "break out in tongues cause you forgot the words to the lead". that one is more hilarious than frustrating. totally throws me off.

sorry to hijack the thread but im still waiting for my list of songs for sunday.

Yeah floaded27 that one is a main staple at my church.  This one cat who leads the praise team cant remember any lyrics, even songs that we have been singing for decades.  He uses the "come on congragation" and the "your not worshiping for me" lines endlessly

bassthumpa, the concert actually went pretty good. The only real problem was, the choir did not have a director, so we (the band), had to listen reeeeaaallll close, to where the choir was going. Thanks for asking.

Looks like we plan on playing Hezekiah's "Thank You, You Died For Me".  Easy tune to play... I'll probably practice a bit later and work on some fills and stuff.

Wow!!! It sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat!! Our MOM gets this "I gotta full diaper look" on his face, hits a couple of chords, does a run or 2 then starts something in which the tempo is usually too slow.
