Moderating on Sunday Morning service
« on: July 26, 2008, 10:43:38 PM »
when an individual is appointed to moderate or lead sunday morning service,
what steps or things should the individual do to make sure that the presence of the lord is in the service?

They should pray, pray, then pray some more. They should pray that the Holy Spirit shows up through them OR in spite of them.

I agree with the prayer thing, but one important thing that I think a lot of people forget is repentance. Because you are leading service, you have to make sure you have YOU right. As musicians and praise leaders, we control the flow of the spirit of God. Anybody ever heard of "strange fire"? We can't just offer anything up to the Lord. Sometimes we feel as though just because the music sounded good and people were shouting that everything was annointed, forgetting that people are emotional and will move because of hype. The difference is that the annointing destroys the yoke.

That's at least what we try to do at my church.

Great point. The Lord Can Show up without A minister or an organist hyping people up, and I think thats what the original poster was looking for; ways to hype people up. imo

when an individual is appointed to moderate or lead sunday morning service,
what steps or things should the individual do to make sure that the presence of the lord is in the service?

1.  Make sure the P&W team is situated.

2.  Double check and make sure the musicians and the P&W team know the song order

3.  Most importantly have a group prayer with the musicians and the P&W team so that their hearts and minds are in the right place

1. Remember that praise and worship does not need to be confined within the walls of your church.  Start at home, and you'll come to church in His presence.

2. Yield yourself totally to His will, remembering that you have the responsibility of leading people to worship Him, not put on a show.

3.  Start on time!

LOL!  My pastor says he's gonna add me to the rotation to do that.  I told him to take his time, lol.   In our church the moderator does the opening prayer, which can be very difficult when people's minds are so scattered as they sometimes are when it's time to start.
