"Are you on the alter/stage to lead others in worship or are you there to lead yourself in entertaining?"
This where you see your creation come alive! I thought about "Empowered" and I want it to be red with a quilted or striped maple top, ash back, laminated neck with a "reddish" wood...yeah that'll be sweet. Because this is a neck through the back will look extra slick. But before I do any wood buying I have to deal with this Step 2.
Tools:Yardstick, pencil, eraser and a Sharpie.
Band Saw or Jig Saw
Materials:5/16" or 1/2" thick Particle Board At least 28" x 36"
Go to HD or Lowes and get particle board. You
CANNOT use plywood because the router will tear it up and then you will be really sad!
Once you have your particle board you can do this:
1. If you are copying a PBass or a JBass lay it in the lower left corner and trace the outline with a pencil. Be steady.
2. If you are working from a sketch then draw a square 19" tall by 14" wide.
3. In either case draw a line down the middle with your yard stick. Use the Sharpie that way it doesn't get lost if you make changes.
4. Make a mark on the center line 1" from the bottom. Note that this is for the Bridge Screws. Or copy your bass.
5. Measure up 9" make a mark this is for the bottom of Fretboard. Or copy your bass.
6. Make the mark about 2 3/8 wide. This is the average size for a 4 string. Don't worry we'll get REAL specific about that later.
7. Now start sketching in your design with a pencil. Try and get lines to flow. Don't worry. Just keep at it. Look at all the erasing I did.
When you are happy. Do the final lines with your Sharpie. Erase the pencil lines as much as possible.
Next we'll do the neck. Cya. God loves you!
