But seriously though, most folks who are led to LGM come because they play primarily piano and not guitar. The guitar is under-appreciated in gospel music. After all you can just play a pent scale and be done with it.

Our stock has gone up in gospel music. Many churches want a guitar player, but none are readily available. Also some MOM's don't know how to use a guitarist. An organ or piano player would probably want a bassist before a guitar player because a bassist frees up his/her hands.
Having a guitar player adds another dimension to the music ministry. Just playing pentatonic scales isn't what guitar playing is all about
. Guitar players can also solo, keep a rythmn and play chords for the keyboard player. Also you might notice alot of keyboard players mimic a guitar sound. If you want a guitar sound, get a guitar player. Although it's not a neccessity, it's always good to have.
