Ok... the lick in the 2nd clip was incredible. But the organ clip....that was just wrong. The cat who was sitting down in the 2nd clip with the mic (G. LeRon Rainey) is THE TRUTH on the organ. He should've been playing! The bass player had me crying though. :D

If you listen closely, that organist was never in the wrong key. He had moved to the relative minor of that key and was doing a I-IV type of chord progression. If you notice, when they left the bridge, and went back into the chorus, he was right there with them. He knew EXACTLY where he was in that music. This was a rehearsal. The choir seemed to be practicing the same part over and over. I know that sometimes at my church when the choir is practicing one specific part like that, we musicians will turn a corner and groove in a way that makes it interesting for us to be playing with them. Sometimes it's stuff that's so different from the way the song goes, that we'd NEVER play it when the choir actually sings it. I think that's what this organist was doing. He never got lost. It sounds like he's off because when the clip comes in, he's already ventured off into the change... so we don't get to hear how he was playing it when they first went into that part.

Just listen to it again, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Or maybe he just didn't know the song... but it seems like the drummer and the guitar player had changed the groove with him. Oh well... I'm out.
