bass pedals on shouting music??????

HEY guys quick question.. I was playing for this concert and the spirit of the Lord was high in there. Now my bass player for some reason does not play behind me during a shout and i'm left with the bass. When I play usually it sounds really plain even running the bass on the top register...Any suggestions to making it fuller playing by yourself?????

Do you need different bass patterns, or just a fuller sound? I'll assume that you use the Drawbar setting 888800000 for bass. You can Try adding the 2 2/3' to that setting and that will give you a fuller sound.

If you need the bass to be louder, you can always push in the lower manual drawbars by 1 or 2 degrees and leave the bass setting full out, then you'll just have to step on the expression pedal a little more

You can also have your tech change the foldback point on you upper manual, so that the bottom octave is deeper. I think that would be a lot easier than playing shout runs with your feet.

As for bass pedals, you can just play the normal shout pattern with your feet. its hard to do, but i've seen a few cats do it. Maybe you can try omitting the heel and doing it all with your toe. That works for some people.

You could bring a keyboard, set it on top (or somewhere where it can be played simultaneously with the organ), and play the bass sound on the keyboard along with the organ. I've done that a couple times before and it sounded decent.

Good Idea. You could get like a roland xp-10 for something like that. Its very small and they go for about $200. And I really like the bass sound .

 >:(idk man its like every once in a while he will run the bass and he knows how to but he doesnt it makes me so upset i was embarass at that concert cuase it was so plain but i got the job done.. i'ma try to do the keyboard thing and i'ma ask or tech do the bass thing good looks

lol, it's funny but you're right!

I love playing shout runs now but I remember when I first started playing I was a little intimidated by shout runs bc the music was moving faster than my fingers could keep up lol. Maybe that's why the OP's bass player left him hangin???

U know wat?? You are absolutely right.....LOL
OUr church's bass player left me hangin for a while 'til he worked his fingers fast enough...now he's leavin us behind LOL

The easiest bass line ever to burn with your feet though:

Ab - Toe
Low C - Heel
Db - Toe
D- Heel
Eb- Toe
F-Heel
Gb-Toe
G-Heel------> leads to Ab at top

You can practice that sitting in math class or at work or wherever.  Just tap it out over and over.
