What to do with your DAW

OK, so I have an old Roland VS-890 workstation and a sony CD recorder, that I'm no longer using because my ProTools set-up made them both pretty much obsolete.

You can find a VS-890 on Ebay for only a fraction of the $500 price I paid for it, so selling it is out of the question, (as I wouldn't get much for it anyways).

I don't want to get rid of it, so what can I use it for?

Do you mean using it to record, or using it as a mixer?

Looks like you can only record on 4 tracks at a time.  I guess that's good for something.  I don't see why you can't use as a small mixer as it has 6 analog inputs.

You can always use it to run loops at a live gig. ;D

Record yourself live, that way you can learn from your mistakes and/or improve your playing.

Good idea... I've thought about using it to record rehearsals...

Like pre-recorded samples? That's a good idea... with all that hard drive space, I could store thosands of samples and loops...

Also, the VS890 does have a very good vocoder effect on it, so maybe I can use it like Hezekiah Walker in "99 1/2"...

That's a good idea as well, perhaps a stereo pair for my keyboard and another stereo pair for a drum machine
