anything new on thier website for the release of the issue?

I'm a subscriber of Modern Drummer, and I recently received the December 2009 edition.  Max and Jay Weinberg are the cover subjects.  I noticed that recently, they've stopped including who the next cover subject would be.  I wonder why...

I would think that the area that had the feature didn't add any additional costs to the overall publication itself.  I believe that it's not being featured because lately, they (probably) don't get concrete confirmations for interviews in time to publish who's going to be on the cover of the next issue.

That, or they just really don't have it together as to what they would like to feature, so it gives them some flexibility instead of being cornered into a cover subject.

Got my issue of MD in the mail today, I haven't looked thru the whole thing yet, but Chris Dave is certainly not on the cover. Maybe next month, of course that's what I said last month.

...yeah I remember Div. always stating how my man use to go into the cave and not pick up any calls for months until he was well polished.  Talk about wanting to get better...  :o

...Okay I bought it and read the article.  I loved it and learned a lot from him.  True musician indeed.  Sooo, uhm, is anyone going to talk about it?  I mean, seriously though.  Why can't we discuss it?  Is it against some sort of new rule?

One thing that jumped out at me when I read the article is how much time Chris spent transcribing his influences. I've been working on transcribing some pieces and its amazing how much you learn during the process. I've found that once I've taken the time to transcribe a piece I've pretty much learned it.

Chris' overall work ethic and desire to break the mold is super inspirational!

tko05 hit it right on the head for me! This article really gave me a much better insight into Dave's approach to music in general.  He really has studied and showed himself approved!  He is always challenging himself to push the envelop to the next level, especially with his drum selection for the Erykah Badu and Maxwell tours.  I really have to commend MD for a much better write up on Chris this time than the 05 issue.

On a less serious note, the part about him asking the Sabian Rep for some broken cymbals had me cracking up!  :D :D  I can picture the confused facial expression of the rep! :D :D
