Newbie needs Help!

hello,

I've been playing by ear for over 4 years now, and i can pick up a song in about 10 min. The problem is I don't know what im playing... So i when it comes to reproducing it, or going up a key, i have to relearn the entire song... I want to start from scratch, so what is the first thing that i need to do, and what are some practice regiments that I can start?

I'd start with some of the teaching videos that include theory ,check out Wheatworks,Jamal,Sams Muzick ;start from square one;in long term is shortest
