You're not factoring in customer service, product offerings, and plan flexibility?   :-\

I have Verizon and TMobile and AT&T... Verizon is the best ion my area because of the coverage... In New Kent County where my mom lives, you need to have good solid coverage in those back woods and stuff. I live in Hampton, and really TMobile is good too. I just like my phone, so thats why I have service with them too. AT&T is my work phone, blackberry and its aiight. In the country though I might get a text 2 days after someone sends it to me.

I can comment on BB...

I've had BB on Cingular (AT&T), and in the past six months on T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. As far as BBs go, Verizon is the worst carrier for a BB (everyone who has had BB with Verizon and another carrier seems to agree). Sprint is, IMO, the best for BB. Hands down.

As for the other stuff, overall (taking product offering, price, customer service, coverage, etc. into account) I think T-Mobile is the best, with Sprint a close second thanks to their complete turn-around in the customer service area.

Verizon is the best. I wouldn't say as far as prices those. They have changed a few things within the last month. Coverage and customer service they are at the top. Also if your job gives discounts most likely verizon is the best choice. They will give you a discount across the board.  I don't know much about Sprint but looks like they and ATT are the next best as far as coverage. I'm with AT&T. Most of my friends have Verizon but my family has AT&T. Personally I would stick with AT&T or Verizon. Mostly because of coverage and that I could talk or text my friends and family for free. Other than that I would get a prepaid Boost Mobile and call it a day. :) If you get a phone decide what is most important to you then decide. Do you travel alot? Do you want to be on a network with friends and family? Does your job offer a discount with that company? You could save 20% or more on that alone.

Hmmmm this is some good stuff. I asked the question because I am planning to get new service with a new phone. I just want to make sure that I get opinions from those who know, so I don't get the wrong thing.

I would've said Sprint until I about had to blow that joint up today at lunch.  I noticed this morning that I hadn't gotten any calls or texts on my phone, which is unusual, but I shrugged it off.  Then I had been emailing a lady back and forth, and all of a sudden she never responded... I got curious and called my phone... IT WAS COMPLETELY SUSPENDED.

Now you gotta know Sprint... usually you can pay like 2 wks past your due date and everything is cool.  Even if they suspend you, they still allow you to get incoming calls, and if you call them, they'll just extend you to payday and restore your service (LOVE this!).  Needless to say it was highly unusual for everything to just be shut down like that... I was on the phone with them as soon as the lunch hour hit asking questions, lol.

Turns out that my data card, which is my other line, and was unlimited when I signed up like three or four years ago, was changed over in March to a plan that restricts me to 5 gigs of data.  Apparently, Sprint no longer offers unlimited air cards due to some federal thing (I guess nobody does anymore).  Sooo... it didn't affect me until now because I don't normally download a lot of data, but in the last few weeks I've downloaded some programs and stuff that I am using for some work that I'm doing.  One particular program was downloading all day and I just left my laptop hooked up at home while it did its thing.  Anyway, that all resulted in overage charges totalling 252.00!  That's a lot to me...

The first guy put me on hold for ten mins, then another five after which I found he blind transferred me to a lady.  Who non-chalantly said I should've received a notice in the mail about the change (which I didn't) and said the 252.00 could not be credited.  I promptly asked to opt out of my air card contract, because I've been a good customer for years and they breached the contract by changing my service without notice.  She said she would transfer me to account services.  The account services guy was a little better, and submitted a credit for the 252.00 that should take care of things by Friday.  Since I would be without a phone until then he called financial services and asked them to give a 7 day extension crediting me until the real credit kicks in... Then, I exhaled, lol, because up until that point, I was very calm and civil, but I was close to the edge... lol.

I know you ain't ask all that, but I was going to post about it in the current status thread until I saw this thread, lol....  I still recommend Sprint, but will see if this turns out okay, if not, I may be recommending Cricket Wireless... :D

I am currently using Page Plus Cellular. http://www.pagepluscellular.com/ It's prepaid service, but they have an unlimited plan for $39.99/month. Their service rides on Verizon network, so I get pretty good reception everywhere I go. I've been very happy with this company.

As far as coverage, Verizon. They may not have the hottest phones out there, but you'll be able to make a call anywhere you are. Don't really know much bout phones myself, but I have Verizon and never worried about loosing a call, so I'm good. That, and all my important contacts all have Verizon.

In my area I would have to say ATT.  I started with Alltel and the service was great.  It was bought out by Verizon and their service was horrible.  Their prices were outrageous as well.  I went over to Boost mobile which was cheap but had the same horrible service as Verizon. I am pleased with ATT.

It's cool to get prepaid til you decide what you want. Look at the Boost Mobile coverage and plans. I think you can get unlimited everything for like 50 a month or so.

Most know that I work for AT&T (in U-Verse operations, not wireless), but I feel that I can speak honestly and without bias.

I obviously use AT&T since I work for them... however, I didn't switch until a few years ago.  The early Cingular days were tough and the network simply was not reliable, and I kept my Verizon service until I felt they had things right.  I can honestly say that I never had any problems with my service on Verizon at all, it was very solid.  However, for me AT&T is just as solid.

One thing that Verizon does (or at least used to do when I had them) was force their handset vendors to use a uniform interface.  Some people liked that becuase it made it easy for non-saavy and tech-stupid people to switch phones without learning it all over again.  Some absolutely HATED it because they wanted to be able to use the manufacturer's orignial interface.  This usually tended to be the more techie and cell-enthusiast crowd.  I'm not sure if they still do this, though.

Don't we have a Verizon employee here as well?

BTW... there's more to things than Verizon's "there's a map for that" ads would make things seem... but it's a pretty smart play on their part.  I won't get into that right now though.
