Thanksgiving Selections
« on: November 20, 2009, 07:52:37 AM »
Anybody have a Thanksgiving service this year and if so, what songs do you have lined up to minister?

I will be in Chesapeake for Thanksgiving, so this Sunday the choir is ministering GMWA Mass Choir's "Everyday is a Day of Thanksgiving".  These jokers caught the ghost in rehearsal...so it's gonna be good!!

We're having a Thanksgiving concert this Sunday!

Our selections that specifically talk about an attitude of gratitude and contentment include:
  • "Hallelujah, Anyhow" by Daystar (there's also a slightly different version by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir)
  • "Don't Let Me Forget" by Victor Johnson
  • "My Soul Is Satisfied" by Alex Hamilton (which reminds me that I have to update the other post on this forum where I was asking where that song came from!)
  • We were going to a reharmonized version of the hymn "It Is Well", but the choir wasn't catching on fast enough so I had to drop it.  Maybe next year.

And general songs of praise for God's goodness:
  • "Hallelujah, Lord" by Sounds of Blackness
  • "My Help" by Jackie Gouche Farris
  • "Oh Thou Most High" by CeCe Winans
  • "Faithful is Our God" by Hez

I know for a fact they are going to sing:

Oh Give Thanks Unto the Lord
Thank You Lord (Traditional)

Not sure what else. I guess I'll see in rehearsal this coming week.

I'll get Thanksgiving day service on video.
