here are some licks
« on: January 11, 2005, 08:49:16 PM »
see if you like these-  all are in A7 or so, A9, A major etc just squeeze em in.  the thing that is flexible with these licks is that they have chromatics and tend to mix notes between pentatonic, mixolydian  and diminished scales which i feel are the most important by far in gospel.
hope you enjoy-email if you have any problems

play this first line in triplets.
-------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------10----------------
-----------------------------------9 10 11-------------------------
-------------------------7-10-11-----------------------------------
------------------ 789-------------------------------------
-----------5-8-9---------------------------------------------------

heres my signature -use it wisely.  it is fairly diminished and needs to have that A7 chord played after to resolve it but it is not neccessary if you chose not to.

---------4-5------------------------------------
---88-------------------------------------------
---------------8-7-5----------------------------
-------------------------(7)--------------------
----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------

these 2 note chords can go very nicely with the lick above. it too is diminished and needs to be resolved.

--------------4-5---------------------------------------------
----8--7-----4-5----7-6------5------------------------------------
----9--8-------------7-6------6-------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

this  lick has a double stop type of thing or pull of from 5 to 4 at the end. start this one slow but you need to definetly speed this one up for full affect.

--8--------5--------------------------------------
-----7--------8---------5-----7(hold)--- 7---------
------------------6----------- 5-p4------ 6----------
-------------------------------------------7------
------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
