How to teach a choir song
« on: February 13, 2010, 12:25:07 PM »
That's the title of the web page that I just published.  It's aimed at newer choir directors, but y'all experienced folks check it out too and tell me what I should add or change.

There are also some polls on it.

I wouldn't consider myself a seasoned Choir director but one thing i frequently do is play the original of the song and make choir 'feel' the song before teaching. After learning the song,it's sometimes good to also sing along to the original.I've seen that help in boosting confidence a lot.

Hi, Joan - Good tips for rehearsing choir.

When rehearsal time is limited or it's a small or beginning (kids', youth) choir you may have to make the structure of the song simpler - leave out verses if you have no lead to sing them, omit key changes, the 2nd, 3rd vamps, etc...

Only good if one has a musician.  :-\

Thanks for the input!  I added some stuff.

And thanks, betnich, for leaving a comment on the page.  It makes me look good when people do that.   :D
