One of 8....

The five-on-a-side peghead doesn't look bad, but some people feel that it makes for a neck heavy intrument.

I never liked the 5 in line array! 4+1 or 5+2 (Like my Lakland) I like!

What are all the possible arrangements for a 5 string?

5 inline
4+1
3+2
2+3
1+4
5 inline but the tuners are on the opposite side?

Also does anyone make a 1+4? or a 2+3?

The G & L's also come in a 3 + 2.

Yeah, there's a ton of 3+2 headstocks.  I've owned Alembic, Roscoe, Ken Smith, and Lakland 3+2 headstock designs.  I think Yamaha and Ibanez are also 3+2.

There's just not a lot of 2+3.  The only 2+3 I recall seeing before I ordered mine was MTD 535.

I don't think the Nordies were the problem. Had to be the pre-amp. I have Nordies in my JO5 and they kill!
No bro it was the pickups, because I've tried them in my 74 Jazz Bass( that has no preamp) and I ended up going with Jason Lollars

Are you sure the Marcus was a 'true' bypass?? I owned one and if the battery went dead, the bass wouldn't play in passive either. I believe these new Deluxes will play in passive if the battery goes dead!
well not really, however I rewired it the way it should've been ( @ least to me !) in the 1st place, and now I can play the bass in Passive mode ( which is most of the time)and use my tonal controls while the bass is in passive or active mode
