I would suggest that you stick to the basics in your practice regimen.  Go through a process begining with your warm-up.  I always start my warm up routine with practicing double stroke rolls, then to single stroke rolls, to buzz rolls.  Then I spend about twenty minutes just alternating between them.  I start out very slow and pace myself and work up to the "beyond comfortable zone" and then back down and the cycle continues.  I also highly suggest that you purchase a pair of 3B wood tip sticks and practice rolls starting with singles, then doubles, then parradidles, then doubles and so on until you begin making the progress, that will come.  Just keep plugging, and take your time.  Remeber that you can hurt yourself if you do not learn to rest and rejuvinate for growth.  God Bless You My Brother, PT.

I forgot to mention that once you purchase the the 3S(not 3B's) sticks that you practice these rudiments and roll combinations on a very soft pillow.   After some time, you will find that when you go to your practice pad or your drums, you will be amazed at the level of faciity of speed and endurance that your muscle have developed.  Once you get to a certain plateau, try putting a phone book underneath each arm while practing with the 3S sticks.  Your endurance and strength will just amaze you, then work in to the sticks that you regularly use.  First and foremost, as I always say, "Pray before you play".  PT.

3S sticks are like tree trunks.  Great for building endurance and the small muscle groups in the finger.  PT

I guess I am a true O.G., but the most important roll of a drummer is his or her timing.  It doesn't make "cents" if you can the phattest fills but either slow down, speed up, or totally mess up the groove.

BTW, i got a question. How are you supposed to hold the phonebooks under your arms? Right under the armpits, or in the middle of your arems like by the bicep? Where?  Thanks in advance.

God Bless.
