Studio work
« on: May 17, 2010, 11:52:19 AM »
Family I was asked to lay some Bass lines for a Gospel Jazz CD, 8 tracks.

I was asked my rate, I have no idea.

Can anyone help me out.

What is the going rate?
Should I have a contract?

Yes, but make sure you read it, as far as rate, it depends on what is involved; how many rehearsals, how many recording sessions, and most importantly... HOW MUCH YOU WANT!

Find out what the current scale pay is for studio musicians! Or charge by the hour or per song. I try not to outprice myself and usually charge $50-$75 per song or $25/hr. Just depends who I'm working with.

Wow! Go here http://emusician.com/tutorials/emusic_hired_guns/

Scroll down to Money Matters. Some insight as to what the typical Nashville Musician gets paid! Very eye opening. But these are top guns. Adjust your rate accordingly!
