Pro Tools.... Help!
« on: June 30, 2010, 02:31:23 PM »
So, here's the deal... Internet Explorer 8 was downloaded to my laptop without my knowlegde and that of course totally negates Pro tools. I tried to remove internet explorer 8 every way possible and my computer says that its gone but pro tools still won't open. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Pro tools and its still not working. Any suggestions....???

I clicked "POST" before this even hit me. I knew few people who actually use IE on a MAC so I'm guessing you are talking about PC. One of the first things to do is to make sure you are doing a "complete" uninstall of Pro Tools. Making sure all those Prefs folders are going and pretty much anything Digidesign is off the machine. I think it gives you options to do a complete uninstall or just uninstall just the program and keep the drivers. Verify that your IE8 uninstall went okay also. It can be very tricky at times and you think you have uninstalled something only to find its still there. Microsoft products are know for that.

If that doesnt work, check out this link from Avid's site.
