DJing/Computer Music: First Gig
« on: July 14, 2010, 02:32:30 PM »
For those of you who have played gigs in clubs,
would you be able to lend some advice for us beginners into how your first gig came about,
and what followed?

It'd be good to get an overall sense of what options there are in crossing from the at-home production side of things to the getting out and playing side.

Try to outline things as simply as possible to the detail necessary,
in a simple format like the following:

1. When you started producing material,
and how long until you first got to play live (parties, clubs, venues etc)

2. What equipment you used (production-wise then live)

3. What you played (original/remixes)(genre/style)

4. How long was the set, did it exhaust the amount of material you had prepared at that time.

5. How you made contacts, met other djs, or found "band members"

6. Where the gig was, how many people came/played.

7. Was there more invites to play again and/or at other places.

8. How would you change your approach to doing it again / extra advice for newbies

Thanks.

Hopefully this will be productive and beneficial for a lot of people.
