What's Your Rig?
« on: August 04, 2010, 06:37:01 PM »
I'm always interested in what Bassists are playing out of today, here's a shot of my current rig, its light on everything but power.

I rock the Markbass SD-1200 head, supported by a Mesa 2/12 Bass Cab.

Main Rig: (from bass --->speaker)
Bass(es) --->Morley A/B switch --->Korg Pandora PX5D --->MarkBass F1 ---> SWR Goliath Jr.

I have 2 Goliath Jr. cabs.  I leave one at each church I play it.  My Triads stay at home for transport to "big gigs"

Big Gig Rig: (from bass ---> speaker)
Bass(es) ---> Alembic F-1X ---> Korg DTR-1 Tuner ---> Crown Xs500 ---> SWR Triad and/or SWR Goliath Jr.

Sometimes I add a pedal board between the bass(es) and the F-1X [BassBone --->Compressor (CS-3) --->Limiter/Enhancer (LMB-3) ---> Bass Synth (SYB-5) ---> Bass Chorus] --->Alembic F-1X etc

I also have an Audio Technica wireless, but I use it exclusively as a headset mic when I have to play and sing.
Bass(es) of the day could be any of the 6 I have in my possession, but usually includes at least one 5 string.

My avatar is my rig, I sometimes pull out the hartke 2x10s with the 4x10s because it has a decent tweeter on it, but that's about it...

Those GK's are pretty impressive. I used a 1001rb II this weekend with 2- 4x10 cabs. I might have to go get me one soon. I got a lot more growl from my Fender Jazz with this set up.

Here's the rig I used today.  Tried a little something different.  Since the Alembic has stereo output capability, I ran the bass pickup straight through the MarkBass F1 amp, into the SWR.  I ran the treble pickup through the Korg Pandora PX5D (silver box on top of the MarkBass) then into the PA box.  I had the Pandora set to the "Funk" effects setting.

Since I knew we were playing a "Friend of God" / "You Are Good" medley I wanted to have something that I could really thump on.  Usually for that I would use one of my Music Man Sabres.  But we were also doing some old school gospel that I'd usually use my Roscoe fretless for.  But I only wanted to bring one bass today and the Alembic is the one that does most things great.
