LaRue!!!
You must've been Apostolic or something!
We sang both of the first two songs you posted, except that all of our songs were either jazzy or bluesy. We didn't really do many old hymns.
These are "AB" type songs, as Jermaine would call them:Take the Lord along with you, every where you go!
Take the Lord along with you, every where you go!
He's a well of water, in my soul.
He's a well of water, in my soul.
God is not dead, he's yet alive!
God is not dead, he's yet alive!
I made a vow to the Lord, and I won't take it back!
I made a vow to the Lord, and I won't take it back!
....and others:
God is already here, can't you feel his presence, he's already here.
All you got to do, is open up your heart for he's already here.
(repeat)
Victory, victory shall be mine.
Victory, victory shall be mine.
If I hold my peace, let the Lord fight my battles, victory victory shall be mine.
(then you change "Victory" for "peace", "joy", "love", "happiness", etc.)
Don't let the devil ride. Don't do it!
Oh, don't....let the devil ride. Don't do it!
If you let him ride, he's sure gonna drive, don't let him ride.
(subsitute "ride/drive" for other combinations)
I say yes, to my Lord!
I say yes, to my Lord!
He's done great things!
He's done great thing!
I say yes, yes, yes, to my Lord!
(and the tarrying song)
Power, power Lord!
Power, power Lord!
Need more power, power Lord!
Need more power, power Lord!
Holy ghost power, power Lord!
Holy ghost power, power Lord!
Those are the types of songs that we sang. Songs like "Give and it shall come back to you" didn't start until mid 90s. We didn't do praise and worship. It looked like the singers were putting on a show to us.
