Chords for Mississippi Po Boy - The Canton Spirituals
« on: November 05, 2010, 12:07:50 PM »
Hello all, I am looking for the chords for "Mississippi Po Boy" by the Canton Spirituals. I bought the sheet music online and it's for piano, and doesn't tell me the chords.  ?/? I know that it's in the key of Em, but my ears aren't good enough to figure the chords out. Does anyboby know the chords or have the tablature? Thanks and God Bless!!!!

Hey,
Sorry my camera is acting up right now.  I'll try to do a video, if someone else doesn't, when I can.
Here are the chords.

Am9 Em9 (Repeat as needed)

 6           5            3
Verse: (Arppegiate the chords)
Em7 Am7 (repeat)
0      0
3      1
0      0
0      2
2      0
0      x
“That the lord's been good to me”
C5  D5  Em7
x    x    above
x    x
5    5
5    5
3    3
x    x

Vamp 1
Em7  Am7
12      5
12      5
12      5
12      5
X       X
12      5

For vamp 2 you can get away with doing this:
Slide into it.
Em7
7
8
7
9
7
x

If you can't play the chord shapes I've given you... you can always look up others and just play them.  I know that a couple of things could be played differently, but I hope this helps.

God Bless!!

Did a few things differently in the video, but it was a quick run thru... to keep from forgetting to do this once the work week got started.  I didn't play a lot of lead licks, because we all have our own.  Just fill in the blanks. ;)
Check it out.
