« on: March 22, 2011, 02:59:37 PM »
Okay, I'm going to try reposting this in Traditional, in case any of you 'ol souls remember hearing this, perhaps at a homegoing or devotional service....any help in finding info, a source or recording would be greatly appreciated...

Ministry, M.O.M, Praise Teams and Choirs / Does anyone know this 'Ol gospel hymn?

Whitney Houston used to sing this a long, long time ago in her mother's choir -
Whitney Houston A Quiet Place

Whitney Houston A Quiet Place

A friend wants me to transcribe it and sent me lyrics....but since Whitney uses lots of scoops and vocal melismas, was wondering if there was another 'straighter' recording, or perhaps it's in a hymnal somewhere...

Thanks in advance for any help...

A Quiet Place

There's a quiet place
where I can talk to the Lord
There's a quiet place
where I can listen to the Lord
It's close by, it's not far away
And He will hear our request
and that quiet place is here and in my heart.

There is a quiet place
where I can talk to the Lord
And there's a quiet place
where I can listen to His glory
He's close by, not very far away
And He will hear us when we pray
and that quiet place is here in my heart.

Yes, I found "A Quiet Place" by Ralph Carmichael, but the tune + words are completely different...{sigh}. It was popular in the 1970's.

The Whitney tune sounds way older...
