Okay, now that I have a calendar and the Table of Contents in front of me, here is my proposal. I like the idea of having discussion on Thursdays (only because people seem to scatter on Fridays). Does that work for everyone?

May 16 - May 18: Acknowledgments, Preface, Introduction, and
Chapter 1 - "Have We Really Been Doing it By the Book?" (pgs 1-8)

May 19 - Discussion

May 19 - May 25:
Chapter 2 - "The Church Building" (pgs 9-46)
May 26 - Discussion

May 26 - June 1:
Chapter 3 - "The Order of Worship" (pgs 47-84)
June 2 - Discussion

June 2 - June 8:
Chapter 4 - "The Sermon" (pgs. 85-104)
Chapter 5 - "The Pastor" (pgs. 105-144)

June 9 - Discussion

June 9 - June 15:
Chapter 6 - "Sunday Morning Costumes" (pgs. 145-156)
Chapter 7 - "Ministers of Music" (pgs. 157-170)
Chapter 8 - "Tithing and Clergy Salaries (pgs. 171-186)
Chapter 9 - "Baptism and the Lord's Supper" (pgs. 187-198)

June 16 - Discussion

June 16 - June 22:
Chapter 10 - "Christian Education" (pgs. 199-220)
Chapter 11 - "Reapproaching the New Testament" (pgs. 221-242)

June 23 - Discussion

June 23 - June 29:
Chapter 12 - "A Second Glance at the Savior" (pgs. 243-252)
**OPTIONAL**
Afterword
Final Thoughts
Summary
Key Figures in Church History (pgs. 253-280)

June 30 - Discussion

I'm reading the foreward now, to get a feel for his writing style, and see if this will be an easy read for me.  Based upon what I'm seeing so far, I can easily see myself knocking out a chapter or two a day, if that helps any.

Okay, I tried to do the schedule at about 40-70 pages per week, as best I could. As I said earlier, we can always hold off a day or two if anyone needs more time. But I think that overall, a month and a half to read a 250 pg book is pretty reasonable (even for those of us with time or focus challenges).

If it's as good as I've heard, we'll probably all end up reading ahead anyway... :D

OAN: I'm so excited to be reading this with you guys! All of you!!! LL, BBG, PHB, SJon, Fenix, Churchy, Nessa! I'm just excited!!!!! *doing the TD Jakes dance* :D

I'm already defensive and drawing my guns about Chapters 8 and 9. Dude has one time to tick me off and I'll be going off on him... got a pocket full of verbs and adjectives ready to be slung his way! >:( #madbeforeIevengetthebook

Oooh shole is... lemme fix that right quick.

I'm really looking forward to the entire book, but based on the titles alone, I guess the first five chapters are what I'm most anxious to dig into! If it's written well (and the writing style and font work with my brain), I'll probably be reading ahead a little bit. But I'm really going to try to stick to the schedule so I can digest and ponder (and research) what I'm reading.

And by the way, Barna and Viola: if wearing a "Sunday Morning Costume" is pagan, then just go ahead and call me a heathen. #lovemycostumes

Just join in whenever, no matter where we're at. This discussion has the recipe of being as good as the "State of the Church" thread was. I think we've matured to the place where we won't have those classic debates anymore, but this will be good! I got a feeling in my pinky toe....GLORY!!!  ;D

Can't be helped, I guess.  I've been praying about streamlining my time.  There's a lot of extra stuff I do for a lot of people, and it's starting to overload my schedule.  I want to strip my time down to prayer time, study time, practice time, work, and my local church.  Everything else is on the table to be CHOPPED.
