Spent part of Saturday afternoon at the 2nd Annual Detroit Bass Players Get Together and Photo Shoot.  I missed the first one last year because it conflicted with my kids' music recital at Wayne State University, but I wasn't about to miss this one.  The photo shoot that happened yesterday was a GREAT event.  I ran into a number of bassists that I'd seen perform or just out and about.  A few that I knew only through cyber space (mainly TalkBass).

I was there with my two sons

Here's a picture of my youngest son Justin (in black t-shirt) to his left is his teacher Lamont Johnson, and to his left, with the H on his shirt is Brandon Rose.  Some of you have probably seen some of the videos of him lightin' it up.  By the way....notice anything different about Lamont's bass?

And here's one of me messing around with one of the coolest basses I've ever seen.  Larry Lee's NFL themed bass:

Larry certainly handles it better than I do.

The 1958 Harlem Jazz Artists photo that inspired the 2011 photo shoot.  I have a print of this in my living room

The 2011 photo shoot......

The 2012 photo shoot.....(this one actually doesn't even cover everybody....a lot of people off on both sides)

Hey Mal this looks like it was a nice event and the turn out was nice.

Yeah, some sort of sign in would've been nice.  Right now the best way to get an idea is to go to Detroit Bass Players FB page and see who's posting stuff.

You're just trying to get me to say the F-word, aren't you?

Pretty much every flavor of Fender imaginable.  Saw at least four Marcus Miller Signatures.  More Ken Smiths than you're likely to see in one place at one time.  A lot of Music Man basses, including a pair of Bongo 6-strings. A few Sadowskys and a Valenti showed up?  The one major brand I do not recall seeing at all is Warwick.

Been a while, but I am fairly certain there were some Lakkies and Ibbys there.
