Bass Cabinet - Tweeter/Horn On or Off?
« on: March 07, 2014, 09:03:34 AM »
So, I am curious to what you guy's prefer. For years the option to buy a cab without a horn/tweeter was out of the question. I felt that I had to have it. I have used/owned rigs from SWR, Eden, Ampeg, Hartke (4.5xl's), and now my current rig is GK. For the past couple of months I have been experimenting with my rig and have actually found that I really dig the 410 cab with the horn/tweeter turned off. Especially for a funky gospel classic tone. It seems to me that I get a more round tone with more guts in the mid's, but not over the top "sizzle" that the horn produced. What do you prefer?

Yeah... I feel you on that one... gotta have a tweeter.  Turn the tweeter on, but turn your highs down on your head.
