Potential solutions to Retain Employees
« on: October 06, 2011, 11:10:14 AM »
just brainstorming...

it is becoming common knowledge today (at least for young people just now entering the workforce) to expect to change jobs fairly frequently. If you were the business owner what are some things that you could do to keep good to great employees?

1. Provide a monetary dollar figure for a lot of the soft perks. For example say your employees don't have to punch a clock or they have flex time. When you start saying hey being able to work from home/ or on the beach is like earning an additional $5 an hour. Or your health care costs the company $12 an hour. when an employee can add that to their base wages it will make them see they are earning more than what they are taking home each pay period.

2. Don't micro manage, set your expectations and give them the tools needed. also Fire those who aren't reaching your expectations.

3. Pay them 5-15% more than the average salary. To keep poachers at bay. But not so much you go broke.

4. Offer a daycare to help your employees balance Like/Work. (give it a monetary amount and reduce their wages accordingly gotta keep them thinking they are earning more because now they are saving by not having to pay for daycare. while you are pocketing their actual savings)

(struggling now cause I want to reach 5 ideas)
5. Hire the right person for the job. If the person has a brilliant personality but can't do the job. They will quit or you will have to fire them, a waste of time and money
