Fat 50's...
« on: May 20, 2012, 01:04:22 PM »
...are the real deal.  Yesterday, I went to Guitar Center to try out one of the new American Standard Strats (they only had one left....seems like they're selling like hotcakes!) specifically to see what the deal was with the Custom Shop Fat 50's.  Well, I was impressed with them.  They are definitely a nice upgrade to the American Standard line (the new Tele features a Broadcaster bridge and Twisted Tele neck, but they didn't have any in stock).  I used to think that Texas Specials were the bomb, but the 50's look like they'll give the Specials a run for their money.  While I really like the American Deluxe Strat in terms of feel and playability, the N3's don't have it like the 50's (of course, the N3's are hum-cancelling).  Wow....I think I'll swap out the stock American Standard pups on my Strats to the Fats!  Even the bridge pickup rocked!
