« on: July 30, 2012, 04:15:53 PM »
The thought just came to me about how to approach chord tones above half step or below or half step above and below or a half step below and above. Check out A minor triad A C E

Chromatic approach notes a half step above the chord tones
E-------------6-5
B---------6-5----
G-----6-5--------
D-8-7------------
A---------------
E----------------

Chromatic approach notes a half step below the chord tones
E------------4-5
B--------4-5----
G----4-5---------
D-6-7-----------
A---------------
E---------------

Chromatic approach notes a half step above and below the chord tones
E-------------------------6-5-4-5
B-----------------6-5-4-5--------
G---------6-5-4-5----------------
D-8-7-6-7-----------------------
A--------------------------------
E --------------------------------

Chromatic approach notes a a half step below and above the chord tones
E-------------------------4-5-6-5
B-----------------4-5-6-5--------
G---------4-5-6-5---------------
D-6-7-8-7-----------------------
A-------------------------------
E-------------------------------

^^Yes sur!!!  :D I this have one more thing to say and Im done

The thought just came to me again on how you can approach this there are two ways you can approach chromatic approach notes the examples above are you can approach it the safe way which starting on the root note of a chord just to play safe with it. Theres an outside way and a inside way because this time your not starting on an outside note your starting on an inside note that within the scale. For example, in the key C an A minor triad A C E

Chromatic approach notes a half step below the chord tones

E-------------------5-4-5
B-------------5-4-5------
G-------5-4-5------------
D-7-6-7-------------------
A-------------------------
E-------------------------

Chromatic approach notes a half step above the chord tones

E-------------------5-6-5
B-------------5-6-5------
G-------5-6-5------------
D-7-8-7-----------------
A------------------------
E------------------------

Chromatic approach notes a half step above and below the chord tones

E--------------------------------5-6-5-4-5
B----------------------5-6-5-4-5-----------
G-----------5-6-5-4-5---------------------
D-7-8-7-6-7-------------------------------
A-----------------------------------------
E-----------------------------------------

Chromatic approach notes a a half step below and above the chord tones

E-------------------------------5-4-5-6-5
B---------------------5-4-5-6-5----------
G-----------5-4-5-6-5--------------------
D-7-6-7-8-7------------------------------
A----------------------------------------
E-----------------------------------------

Hey you know what rolled upon in my chromatic playing. I always started on a wrong note and then wound up landing on a correct note. But I never thought about the opposite which land on a note thats in the diatonic key and then taking it and landing on a note note is outside the key, and I was able to come with some quite interesting chromatic phrasing licks. I seen guthrie govan do it in his lesson about chromatic playing. But is it reccomendable?

Check this chromatic phrase out I thought this one so funny. I learned and stumbled on this one for it so funny. It sound like something from the circus. Chromatics are funny!

E---------------------------------------------
B-13-12-11-12--------------------------------
G-------------12-11-10-11--h--p--h-p------------
D--------------------------8--9-8--9-8------h--
A-------------------------------------10-10--11
E----------------------------------------------

What I noticed about this lick is that it ends on an outisde note which is really cool for I didnt know you could that
