As I was playing my instrument, my guitar, I notice how I played an ascending pattern typically D Mixolydian over a D7 chord in the key of G. Oh my gosh! It sounded great but why an ascending pattern fit over a D7 chord? Is the D Mixolydian ascending much stronger and tasteful than a D Mixolydian descending pattern. Although its good to nkow both but what purpose does it serves. And I almost thought to myself that any ascending pattern would fit over the D7 chord as long as it sounds right over the chord playing over.
