Examing phrases closely
« on: October 01, 2012, 04:12:35 PM »
Hi guys I been examining phrases. And for example key signature E major E F# G# A B C# D# E tonal centre (thats what Im willing to know) but here's what I got. I have this idea of what I want sound like or to establish something that I casme up with. Notes of the phrase: E (root) - D# (major seventh) - C# (major sixth) - B (perfect fifth) - and A (perfect fourth.)

Now here are the notes E D# C# B A now what chord do I play? Do I play A Major chord just because I landed on the note A which is the perfect fourth from the root of E Ionian? Or is it because I started out on E but didnt end on E is there Im playing A Lydian or B Mixolydian or just plain ole E Ionian since they all share the same notes? And need help finding the tonal centre. Thanks
