I need the defintion of....

I would dislike to sound desperate but What is the definition of runs and fills? I think guys like guthrie govan understand the difference on what is a run or what is a fill that's probably why he is so good.

Runs and fills are just guitar riffs, licks, scale fragments, arpeggios, etc...which are usually played around a vocal line or used as a call and response w/ a vocal or another instrument.
