Organ Playing on a Keyboard
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:51:25 AM »
Question,  who uses a organ sound on the keyboard for their regular worship services ? If so what keyboard ( ie. make, model)  and what voice or patch do you use ? I am thinking about trying this out with the Motif XS 8 . Anybody ever tried it ? What voice(s) are you using ? How is it working out?

I have an axiom 61 that I usb/midi out to my laptop using a program called vsthost (free). I have NI B4 for my B3 sounds (sliders on the Axiom control the sliders in the NIb4), and sampletank for all my other sounds.  I used to use an Em-u  B3 but quit using it after just a short while. I couldn't change the sliders and I didn't like the leslie. Before switching to the laptop I used a Korg Triton but never really like the organ sounds. The Motif has some nice organ and you can use the sliders.

Privia 575r! Say what you want about Casio, but they smash the motif organ.

I have a radio shack keyboard which is actually a Casio and the organ sounds pretty good. Also you can change from fast to slow leslie. I have considered buying one of the newer ones with drawbars for home and going out.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

Casio organ sounds might be good enough for practice, but I wouldnt use one in a church service though. I honestly wouldnt even use one for practice anymore.  You can get away with using a motif though, but it's not ideal if you're a real organist.
