Are there any exercises I can do to help familiarize my foot to the petals?
Give a man chords to a song, you help him for a day. Teach him theory and you help forever!!!

Depends on what you want to play. If you only play one foot work on the chromatic scale and playing the 1 to 5 bounce. Those are the basics. Different people have different ideas about whether to play heel or toe on certain notes. I play toe on all the black notes and heel on the brown except I sometimes play toe on E and F or B and C.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.
