What exactly do you mean by "scoring"?
If you're talking about the true scoring process, there is really only one way to do it. If you're talking about learning a song by ear and just posting the chords on a website, then there are a few options, each one with their pros and cons.
Posting chords note for note
pros - you see the exact notes used, helps to get a visual, good for those who aren't good with music theory
cons - takes a lot of time, mistakes can be made naming the notes which can throw off people trying to play what you've posted, leaves little room for creativity in chording
Posting chord symbols
pros - takes little time, gives the musician the power to chord however he/she wants to, reinforces music theory, can be used by any musician no matter the instrument
cons - looks like gobbly gook to people who aren't familiar with music theory, symbol must be written correctly or else it throw off other musicians
Combination of the 2
pros - you see the notes for the chord and the chord name at the same time, sort of like on the job training in music theory
cons - very time consuming
Words with the chords
pros - you know exactly (or close proximity) where and when to play a particular chord in a song
cons - extremely time consuming, can get confused with regular chording unless you make a clear distinction somehow
