Because their garbage. They sound really harsh and are not really pleasent to listen to. I have some Basslines Soapbars (Duncan). What really changed the sound of my bass and warmed things up quite a bit was the Aquilar pre-amp. It really opens up the tone of your bass, kind of breaths some life into it. It is a definate worthwhile and money well spent upgrade. Warwick makes some pretty good basses but they ruin it with MEC electronis and pickups. I don't know why they do that.

I have a Yamaha RBX765A. I play it through a Samson SX1200 power amp and a Boss GT-6B as a preamp through a SWR 4x10. I plan to upgrade to an Avatar 2x12 soonhttp://www.avatarspeakers.com/. I would also like to get an Fbass http://www.fbass.com or a Nordstrand 6-stringer http://www.nordstrandguitars.com/.

For right now i am on a Ken Smith 6 MS neck thru, playing out of a SWR LA15. This makes a great combination.

I have to agree with funkinater, Smith's are a bit pricey but definitely worth it!

I play a warwick 6 corvette. I took out the crappy electronics and slapped on an aguilar OB3 pre-amp. Big difference. I use a Euphonic Audio Iamp 800 amp and a Bergantino cabinet.

THAT BASS IS MEAN! I had one and traded it for a 5 string cirrus but I reget it soooooooo much. So much low in in that bubinga wood!

I tell you, you can make pretty much any warwick sound good if you rip out the stock MEC pickups and electronics and slap on something else. It really lets you hear what your bass sounds like.

Hey B3, do you think you can do me a favor, there's a bass player at work (very strong groover and soloist) that doesn't beleive me when I tell him there is an 8string bass that has seperate strings not like the 4string with octave up drone strings. Can you email me this picture.... pwetty pwease.

I'm sorry. I have to disappoint you.

If I  can convince sixstringpoet to donate his amp to me then I'd be in business!

I'm going to get a new amp next spring/summer. I really don't need one, right now.

Tell your friend to go to www.conklinquitars.com. There are 9 string basses on there. Also, that pic that 4hisglory posted, of Al Caldwell, has an 11 string. I've seen a couple 10s, on other forums.

Those dudes must be some serious tappers too! I want to learn as much as I can, so I plan to squeeze some of that tapping juice out of Spiritfingers, next year....As you can see, I'm already getting my curriculum together for next year.

Man Pleeeeease B3wannabe you are the one with all of the gear. i cant afford to donate nuthin.  I use a swr 400 amp (very old, but the tone is good), and a peavey 410 for one church, and then the same head and a frankenstein cabinet ( ampeg cabinet with 2 carvin 10 inch woofers and a swr horn. dont ask how this happened) for the other church. I am looking to buy this musicman rig from one of my friends soon.  b3wannabe let me hold something? :D
