Transposing help needed
« on: October 10, 2007, 03:56:18 PM »
Hello LGM brethren,

My mom, who is the pianist for our church is in need of transposing help. She's not as young as she used to be and is having problems with a particular piece. The song is titled, 'He Came To Me' written by Squire Parsons, and it's in the key of G. She says the sopranos say it's too low and she wants to transcribe it up to Ab(A flat). She also says there is a section where it modulates but she just wants to keep it in Ab. Is this something someone here can help with? I can fax the music she sent to me. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance. Be blessed.

I can help out, pm me the details or post the chords here.  To go from G to Ab is just 1/2 step.  So, all she needs to do is take everything up 1/2 step.

T...from another post I saw, she actually needs the sheet music notated in Ab from G...A quick way to do this, is if you have the sheet music or know the song, play/record song using midi recording software...and then you can transpose the notation to another key using various programs.

I see, going from 1 sharp to 4 flats is a little difficult in the sheet music sense, lol.

Exactly... ;) 8)

Just takes more than a little time to notate depending on the difficulty of the piece...

DWBass...I don't have a fax available...can you scan and post or e-mail?
