What is the name of this chord?
« on: February 13, 2008, 05:13:31 AM »
Can somebody help me with the name of this chord ...

I play these type of chords often, and yet I don't know the name of it ...(shame on me .. :-[ :-[)
It's basically the 1, 5, / 9, #11 of any key
Here is an example of the notes I play:

F# C# /  G# C

(Looks like a partial polychord, or an #11th w/o the 7th...)

Seems simple enough, but I just don't know it ..  :-\ :-\

Thanks for your help gang ... BroAllan  :)

The closest thing that I can get to it is an F#sus2 chord.
Real musicians play in every key!!!

Thanks T-Block ...
It does seem to be some kind of suspended chord because it always resolves to the major chord, which in this case would be, F#major.  Thanks again T.   ;)

I usually use it as a 4.  Then like BroAllan said, resolve it to the major chord.  The song "Our Father You Are Holy" by Ricky Dillard uses this chord.

Thanks.

I also found that the immediate application was as a 4 & I could resolve into a major. 8)
