Welcome, welcome and welcome.  :D  As for your question, I guess as many instruments as you can find. It depends on what you're looking for?

Well if your looking for a band you would need to hire
a personto play
electric guitar
bass guitar
electric piano (could be you)
organ
and drums
that is what a normal gospel choir band has

Search for choir members
(If you know parents mabye you could start a childrens gospel choir
think about it
If they can sing buy vocal books and teach them

As a matter of fact I write music so if you are looking for an excellent
song I could write it out for you and mail it to you
(would cost you 3.50 per composition which covers mailing )

Its easy to become a great gospel founder.

If you can email cdavischoirboy@excite.com
That would be fine.

To add on, it depends on what you want from your band . . . or rather, what vision GOD has for your band.

Me, I love a nice sax in a gospel band. Try to get some people who can multi-task . . . like, a guitar player who can also play sax, or a drummer who can also play bass. I think a lot of us musicians like to play more than one instrument, so stretching each person is usually no big deal.

In short, you need a rhythm section (ideally both drums and bass guitar, but definitely drums) and some lead instruments. Lead instruments to me are guitar and keys. A nice melody instrument, like sax or clarinet or bass trumpet, is always a plus . . . . especially if you don't always have a lead vocalist.

Be Blessed.

Thanks Keywiz.  :D  Its a VisCount player piano. Its probably good that I'm in this forum with this question. It have every instrument on it and I can split the sounds and make midis. So for the person who posted the question it may be a good idea to get a keyboard or piano with multiple instruments. Just a thought.  :D

Hi Newbie,
How are you doing today?  I was thinking that it may be a good idea for you to have a band director too.   I recently returned from an overseas deployment and played in a band during the Inspirational Service.  I played the keyboard or electric piano, there were other musicians who played the bass, drums, keyboards, as well as saxophone.  Everything was tied together with our band director because he made sure that everyone was on point with the sound, prior to choir practice or Praise & Worship team practice.  It's just a suggestion for you.    :D
